HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – One couldn't have asked for a better day as the Northern Kentucky softball program celebrated its Senior Day with a doubleheader against Detroit Mercy on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Highland Heights.
THE BASICS – GAME ONE
FINAL: Northern Kentucky – 7, Detroit Mercy – 1 (7 innings)

Olivia Pastin had another huge performance with a 2-for-3 opening game. She recorded three RBI in the win.

Emma Ginn posted her first home run of the season and of her career with a perfect 1-for-1 game with three RBI and a run scored.

Ella LeMonier chipped in a 1-for-4 showing with a RBI.

Jena Rhoads (2-for-3, two runs scored),
Maddie Lacer (1-for-3, one run, one walk),
Trinity Robertson (one run, two base on balls) and
Hannah Colbert (one run scored) also came around to score for NKU.

Madisyn Eads picked up the win in the circle with 6.2 innings of work that included two strikeouts and just five hits and one run allowed. It was her fifth victory of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Norse jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the first off a Pastin RBI double that drove in two.
- Detroit Mercy tried to get back into it with a run in the top of the fourth, but Northern Kentucky matched it with a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning to make it 3-1.
- NKU put the game out of reach with a four-run bottom of the fifth. Pastin knocked in another RBI which was followed by Ginn's three-run blast.
- The Titans couldn't get anything going over the last two innings as the Norse closed out the victory to win the series.

Olivia Pastin finished out her standout afternoon with another 2-for-4 effort with two RBI.

Ella LeMonier added a 1-for-4 outing with a RBI and a run scored.

Megan Lenhart rounded things out with a RBI and a run.

Maddie Lacer (2-for-3),
Tatum Biddle (1-for-4, one run scored) and
Mack Brow (2-for-2) also had strong outings.

Brooklyn Ballis threw 3.2 scoreless innings of relief. She notched four strikeouts and allowed just a single hit against.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Norse once again struck first with a run in the bottom of the first off a RBI single by Pastin.
- The Titans responded back with two runs in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead.
- Northern Kentucky dropped three runs in the bottom of the sixth to retake a 4-3 advantage. Lenhart, LeMonier and Pastin all posted a RBI in the frame.
- Detroit Mercy roared back with three runs in the top of the seventh to jump ahead once again at 5-4.
- The Norse couldn't get anything across in the bottom half of the frame as the Titans escaped with the 5-4 win.
NEXT UP
The Norse hit the road for their final conference series of the season with a trip to Cleveland State. The three-game slate gets underway on Friday, May 3 at 3 PM ET.
