Baseball completes sweep over Ohio on Tuesday night

ATHENS, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky baseball program kept it rolling with a big 11-8 win over Ohio in a non-conference game at Bob Wren Stadium on Tuesday night.
 
With the victory, Northern Kentucky improved to a perfect 2-0 against the Bobcats this season. The Norse also look to have a new winning streak going as NKU have won its past two games.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The majority of the Norse attack came from the top of the lineup in this one.
- The top five batters in the order combined to go 7-for-20 (.350) with one home run, 10 RBI and seven runs scored.
- Jake Paulick had a huge day with a 1-for-4 effort that included one homer, four RBI and two runs scored.
- Mitch Wood added another strong outing with a 2-for-5 evening that featured three RBI.
- Liam McFadden-Ackman went 1-for-3 at the dish with a RBI, a run and a walk. The standout senior currently leads the Horizon League with a .407 batting average, a .541 on-base percentage and 50 RBI, to go with being ranked all over the conference's top-10 in just about every offensive category.
- Cleary Simpson set the tone at the top of the order as he went 3-for-5 overall with two runs scored. He is now tied for the Horizon lead with 42 runs scored.
- Treyvin Moss also added two runs to go with two RBI.
- Logen Devenport picked up NKU's other hit in the contest. He chipped in a 1-for-4 game to go with one run scored and a game-high two stolen bases.
- Bryce Miller (two runs) and Jake Altman (one run) also came around to score for the Norse in the victory.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Norse got on the board first right away in the opening frame with a RBI double by Wood to make it a 1-0 contest. - Ohio took over the lead in the bottom of the second with a two-run inning to jump ahead 2-1.
- Northern Kentucky answered right back with one run in the top of the third and six in the fourth to flip it back to an 8-2 game. - The Bobcats tried to respond with two runs in the bottom half of the fourth and another in the fifth, but the Norse went off for a three-run top of the sixth to pull ahead 11-5. - Ohio was able to push two runs across in the bottom of the seventh and another in the ninth, but by then the damage was already done as NKU sealed the 11-8 win.
 
NEXT UP
The Norse return to Highland Heights for an important Horizon League series against rival Wright State that gets underway on Friday, April 12. First pitch is set for 2 PM ET and the conference clash will be played in front of a national audience on ESPN+.
