HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern Kentucky didn't take long to get on the board as a RBI single by Kucera made it a 2-0 game in the top of the first. - The Norse added two more runs in the top of the third off RBI knocks by Wood and Lane to extend the lead to 4-0. - NKU did it again with a RBI single by Moss to give the Norse a 5-0 advantage through four innings of play. - Northern Kentucky broke things open with a four-run top of the fifth. Lane, Miller and Shaneyfelt all put the ball in play with runners on to give NKU a 9-0 edge. - Eastern Kentucky tried to battle back with six runs in the bottom of the fifth and another in the seventh, but the damage was already done as Northern Kentucky sealed the 9-7 in-state victory.
