HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's soccer picked up its first victory of 2024 on Sunday afternoon, dominating Western Illinois in a 3-0 shutout win. NKU is now 3-1-1 vs. Western Illinois all-time.
The offensive outburst marked the first time the Norse have netted three goals in a match since October of 2023 in a victory over Milwaukee.

- Northern Kentucky peppered WIU with shots on goal, holding a 9-3 advantage in shots on target.
- Nic Lemen saved all three shots on goal from the Leathernecks, posting his second clean sheet of the season.
- WIU held the advantage in corner kicks (5-2) but the Norse kept the ball out of danger on set pieces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ali Taleb netted his first goal of the season to put the Norse on the board in the 33rd minute. Yonatan Cohen was credited with the assist, his first of the year.
- Tyler Murphy wasted no time out of the halftime break, scoring in just the fourth minute after kickoff on an assist by Nico Stoddart.
- Bennett Gerak provided the dagger for NKU with an unassisted goal in the 76th minute.
