Men’s Soccer allows late goal, bested on road by Detroit Mercy

DETROIT, Mich. – Northern Kentucky University Norse Men's Soccer traveled north to Detroit on Saturday evening, taking on Detroit Mercy in a Horizon League battle. The Titans opened the scoring early, netting the opener in the seventh minute. NKU tied things up in the second half, but allowed a late goal as they took a tough road loss.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– Detroit opened the scoring in the seventh minute with an early goal. 
– A red card in the 58th minute provided a great opportunity for NKU, as they would play the rest of the match one man up. 
Steven Boaghe Braniste tied things up late in the second half, converting a penalty kick with just 15 minutes remaining in the match. 
– Detroit scored late in the match on a breakaway, and the Norse couldn't muster up a comeback. 
– NKU outshot the Titans 17-14, but were out-shot 9-5 on goal.
– NKU keeper Alex Kron made seven saves in the match.
– The Norse also won the corner kick battle 5-3.
