NKU Softball drops final game of successful opening weekend

CLINTON, S.C. – Northern Kentucky University Norse Softball looked to finish their opening weekend with an exclamation point, when they entered a Sunday morning matchup with George Washington undefeated. However, the Norse were shut out by the Revolutionaries, only reaching base seven times in a 3-0 loss.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- NKU recorded just four hits in the game, as four different hitters finished 1-3. Campbell Beatty and Lexy Morris hit doubles, while Stella Wulker hit a triple. 
- Alicia Flores got the start in the circle, but only pitched two innings. She allowed one earned run, one hit (a solo home run), one walk, and struck out a batter. 
Kyndall Ford relieved Flores in the third, and she pitched the rest of the way. The freshman struck out four and allowed just one earned run, allowing seven hits. 

NORSE NOTES
- GW jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first thanks to a solo home run. They tacked on two more in the third on a two-RBI single. 
- Sunday's game marked the first time NKU struck out more than they walked. They did not reach base on balls while striking out five times. 
- Freshman Campbell Beatty has now recorded a hit in all five games of the 2025 season. She is the only Norse player to do so. 

NEXT UP
The Norse travel to North Georgia next weekend, taking on Creighton, Morehead State, and the hosts Kennesaw State in a five-game tournament from February 14-16.
