ROCHESTER, Mich. – Northern Kentucky University Norse Softball continued its record-smashing season on Sunday when they wrapped up their second conference series against Oakland. Northern Kentucky jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and Norse pitchers held down the Golden Grizzlies as NKU locked down its first-ever 6-0 start to a conference season as a Division I member.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-
Kyndall Ford earned her third win of the season, going four innings with three strikeouts, allowing four hits, a walk, and two runs.
Alicia Flores locked it down with a three-inning save, her first of the season. Flores struck out a pair of batters while only allowing one hit, two walks, and a single run.
- Offensively, five different Norse were responsible for seven NKU hits, with five coming in the first inning.
-
Trinity Robertson had the lone extra-base hit for the Norse, as she finished 2-4 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored.
-
Stella Wulker went 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
NORSE NOTES
- The Norse offense, which has been on fire to start Horizon League play, continued its hot streak with a six-spot to kick things off. NKU saw twelve batters in the first inning as they recorded five hits and drew four walks to set the tone early.
-
Kyndall Ford got the start in the circle for the Norse, and her only blip in four innings of work came in the first frame. Oakland scored a pair of runs on a two-out triple, but the Norse held the Golden Grizzlies scoreless until the sixth.
-
Trinity Robertson and
Stella Wulker ripped back-to-back hits to start the second, helping the Norse extend their lead to five. An errant throw later in the inning scored Wulker, giving NKU their six-run advantage back.
- Both offenses went stagnant for the rest of the game, as NKU did not record a hit after the second inning while Oakland had just two in the final five innings, thanks to great pitching efforts from Ford and Flores.
- Northern Kentucky has now scored 6+ runs in each conference game this season. The Norse move to 11-0 when scoring 6 or more runs in a game, and are just 3-14 when scoring less than six runs.
