NKU extends conference winning streak to seven with win over Cleveland State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Off to a historic start in 2025, Northern Kentucky University Norse Softball aimed to stay undefeated in conference play in game one of a rematch of last's year's Horizon League Championship Final. The Norse never trailed in the game, scoring three runs in the second and adding late runs in the sixth to secure their fifth straight victory and ninth in their last ten games.

RECORDS: NKU 16-14 (7-0 HL), CSU 10-14 (5-2 HL)
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Four Norse recorded multiple hits on the day, as NKU went 11-30 at the plate. 
- Mack Brow went 2-2 with a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored. 
- Campbell Beatty went 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. 
- Brielle DiMemmo finished 2-4 at the plate with a double and a run scored. 
- Olivia Pastin went 2-4 with a pair of singles.
- Brooklyn Ballis threw six innings, striking out six batters. Ballis notched her 7th win of the season, moving to 7-7. Alicia Flores came in the top of the sixth and clinched the save, her second of the season.

NORSE NOTES
- Northern Kentucky moves to 12-0 on the season when scoring 6 or more runs in a game. The Norse have scored 6+ in every Horizon League game this season. 
- Ballis was able to shut down CSU through two, allowing just two hits and a walk through two frames. 
- NKU's offense rattled off three hits in the bottom of the second, scoring three runs on RBI hits from Brow and Beatty. 
- CSU bounced back in the third, hitting their first of four home runs to cut NKU's lead to two. Another Viking solo shot in the fourth reduced the deficit to a single run. 
- NKU got one run back in the fifth on an RBI single from Stella Wulker. In the sixth, the Norse scored three runs on three hits, including a two-RBI single from Trinity Robertson
- The Norse allowed two homers in the seventh, one off Ballis and one off Flores, which NKU's lead to one with just one out. A two-out double increased the pressure for Flores, but she got her last batter of the day swinging to keep Northern Kentucky's perfect start alive.

Northern Kentucky University Norse Softball takes on Cleveland State at home this weekend, with first pitch for Friday's opener set for 3 PM.
