NKU Men’s Volleyball Drops Opener to Saint Francis, 3-1

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse Men's Volleyball played its first-ever match on Friday night, taking on the Red Flash of Saint Francis in Regents Hall. The Norse took their first-ever set in the match, but fell 3-1 despite a valiant effort.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– Saint Francis outhit the Norse .330-.295 in the match, as the Red Flash posted a team attacking line of 48-15-100 while NKU hit 51-20-105.
– SFU's biggest statistical advantage in the match was in service aces, as they recorded ten to NKU's three.
– While the Red Flash took the first set, the Norse battled back to win the second, 25-18, before dropping the final two by a combined five points. 
– Will McElveen led the Norse with a 13-kill, three-block, three-dig night. 
– Matt Cosgrove, Juanmarco Diaz, and Griffin Wheatley all posted eight kills. Diaz had the highest hitting percentage of any Norse with .600, also leading the team in digs with eight. 
– Nick Whitley recorded 38 assists on the night along with five digs.
