EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's tennis traveled to Southern Indiana on Saturday morning for a matchup with the Screaming Eagles. The Norse downed their former GLVC foes, 5-2, winning the doubles point, and matches in the 2, 4, 5, and 6 singles slots.
The Norse started off with a bang as
Alyssa Cameron and
Darya Gneidina beat their opponent 6-2 in the #2 doubles slot, and
Aaditi Bhat and
Haley Slay followed with the same score in the #3 slot.
Cameron kicked off singles play by giving NKU a 2-0 advantage, winning her match 6-3, 6-1 in the #2 slot. USI drew closer with a win in the #3 slot, but
Haley Slay took both of her sets in the #4 slot 6-4, 7-5 to give NKU a 3-1 lead.
Darya Gneidina fell in three sets in the #1 hole as the Screaming Eagles drew a point away from tying, but
Aaditi Bhat (#5, 6-2, 7-5) and
Cassia Adamowsky (#6, 6-1, 6-0) took their sets to clinch a Norse victory.
