YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Northern Kentucky University Norse softball opened up a series with Youngstown State on Friday, taking on the Penguins in the first of three. Despite trailing by just one run in the middle of the third, a big third inning saw Youngstown run-rule the Norse.

- NKU batted 4-19 from the plate with no walks.
Brielle DiMemmo had the only RBIs for the Norse, hitting a two-run single in the third.
Kenzie Gulley finished 1-3 with a run scored.
- The Norse had a rough day in the circle, as
Alicia Flores fell to 4-4 with a loss. Northern Kentucky also pitched
Kyndall Ford and
Abigail Byrd, both allowing six-plus runs.
