Baseball drops Saturday matchup with UNC Greensboro

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball took on UNC Greensboro in the second of a three-game series on Saturday, looking to clinch the series after taking Friday's opener by a score of 14-8. NKU surrendered fourteen straight runs from the second to the fourth as they fell 17-6 on Saturday.

GAME SUMMARY
– Pierce Bauerle started off the game with an RBI double in the first to give NKU the lead, but it was short-lived as the Spartans then scored four in the second, five in the third, and five in the fourth. NKU did gather five runs in a fifth-inning two-out rally, but proved too much to overcomer as they fell 17-6. 

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN 
– NKU threw five pitchers, as Logan Wilson got the start and threw 2.1 innings, allowing seven earned runs. He was saddled with the loss and fell to 1-3 on the year. NKU relievers Gerald Hanson and MJ Castaneda each allowed multiple runs over the next two innings. Will Franklin closed the game with 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing just a walk. 
– At the plate, NKU batted 11-29, as four players finished with multi-hit days. The Norse drew six walks and stranded eight runners, compared to just four from the Spartans.
– Pierce Bauerle finished 2-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. 
– Marcus Harrison and Ethan Thomas each batted 2-3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored.
