NILES, Ohio – Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball opened up its series with Youngstown State on Friday. The Norse led for the first half of the contest before giving up ten runs over the sixth and seventh innings, dropping the contest 11-6.

Josh Williams sac fly in the fourth made it 4-1 Norse, and starter
Logan Wilson exited after 4.3 innings while allowing just one unearned run. YSU got going in the fourth, loading the bases on two walks and an HBP before two flyouts nearly got the Norse out of danger, but the Penguins rallied for seven runs on three hits to end the inning. Youngstown tacked on three more in the seventh while NKU scored just one run in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Logan Wilson was lights out in 4.2 innings of work, striking out nine batters, a season-high for any Norse. Wilson allowed just one earned run, four walks, and three hits before his exit in the fifth. It was a rough day for the NKU bullpen, as

Gabe Stout combined to throw 2.0 innings with 11 runs allowed.
MJ Castaneda finished off the game facing the minimum over 1.1 innings with three strikeouts.
