NKU Softball eliminated from NCAA Regional with loss to Indiana

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Northern Kentucky University Norse softball took on Indiana in the first elimination game of the 2026 Knoxville Regional on Saturday, following a 3-1 loss to #7 Tennessee the day before. The Norse were unable to get the bats hot and suffered a large early deficit as the Hoosiers earned a run-rule victory.

GAME SUMMARY
– IU opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first. The Hoosiers essentially put the game out of reach in the third, scoring four runs on four hits to make it a six-nothing ballgame. Northern Kentucky threatened in the fourth, loading the bases with two outs, but a flyout put the game out of hand. Indiana added a run in the fourth and walked it off on a solo home run in the fifth to end NKU's 2026 campaign.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
– Freshman Makaree Chapman started in the circle for the Norse, going three innings and allowing six earned runs, seven hits, and four walks. Alicia Flores relieved her in the fourth and threw the final 1.2 innings, allowing four hits and a pair of earned runs. 
– NKU's offense batted 3-18, with Kenzie Gulley recording the only extra-base hit for the Norse with a double.
