NKU Baseball ends season with loss to Oakland in Horizon League Championships

FAIRBORN, Ohio – Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball wrapped up the second day of the Horizon League Baseball Championship with an elimination game against Oakland, after falling to Milwaukee earlier in the day. The Norse offense just couldn't get going as they fell 5-3 and recorded just three hits on the day, ending their season.

GAME SUMMARY
– After two scoreless innings, Oakland took the lead in the third on a two-out rally RBI single. They extended it with three runs on two hits and a costly error in the fourth, as two runs ended up being unearned. Northern Kentucky loaded the bases in the fifth and scored three runs on five-straight walks, but only got one baserunner on for the remainder of the contest. The Golden Grizzlies added an insurance run in the eighth, and shut down the Norse for a 5-3 victory to move on to Friday. 

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN 
– Norse pitchers performed well, as Logan Wilson got the start and allowed just one earned run in four innings, allowing five hits while striking out five. Cody Little relieved him for three-and-a-third innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out a pair. Gabe Stout finished the game with 1.2 scoreless & hitless innings. 
– NKU hit just 3-29 in the game, but walked ten times. NKU did not record an extra-base hit and stranded 11 runners. 
– Jackson Wang batted 1-3 with a walk and a run scored.
