YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Northern Kentucky University Norse softball opened up play in the Horizon League Softball Championship on Thursday, taking on #6 Detroit Mercy. The Norse drew first blood and held on late behind a big-time performance from starting pitcher
Alicia Flores.

GAME SUMMARY
– After a scoreless first frame, the Norse took a second-inning lead on a solo home run from
Brielle DiMemmo, which was quickly doubled as
Lexy Morris went yard to make it 2-0 Norse. A Titan solo shot in the third cut it to one, but timely hitting from
Mack Brow drove in a run to put the Norse up 3-1. Another Detroit Mercy solo homer came in the fifth,
Alicia Flores slammed the door with a pair of scoreless frames to end it.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– Flores moved to 10-6 on the year with the victory, as she threw seven innings, allowing two earned runs, five hits, and no walks, while striking out four batters. It marked her fourth complete game of the year and her longest outing against a Horizon League opponent in 2026.
– Northern Kentucky batted 7-24 with a walk and three extra-base hits on the day.

Brielle DiMemmo reached base thrice with a solo homer, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch.

Lexy Morris batted 2-3 with a homer and two runs scored.
