The Northern Kentucky men's and women's cross country programs will open the season with the return of the Queen City Invitational, set for Friday, Sept. 2 at the Valhalla course on NKU's campus. The women's 5K race will get the evening started at 5:30 PM ET, while the men's 5K event will follow at 6:15 PM.


RETURN OF THE QUEEN CITY INVITE
Friday's races will be the 39th running of the Queen City Invitational, which is making its return to the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area for the first time since 2019. The race has been paused the last couple years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


COMPETING TEAMS
The field will consist of approximately 60 men and 38 women student-athletes. Teams competing in the event will include Northern Kentucky, Xavier, Kentucky Christian, Midway, Mt. St. Joseph's, Union and the Cincinnatus Elite Running Club.

 ADMISSION/FACILITIES
Admission to the Queen City Invitational is FREE for all spectators. Free parking is available for all teams and spectators alike in Surface Lot 6 (by the softball field) or in Kenton garage.


For fans and supporters coming out to the meet, use 513 Johns Hill Road on your navigation app, which will bring you to the back entrance of NKU's campus. There will be signage and volunteers to point fans to the appropriate lot and course. Please note, the course is approximately half a mile away from the parking areas and is accessible by foot only.


VALHALLA
Like NKU itself, the course rests on property once used as farmland. The 5K course consists of two 2.5K loops that is a beautiful rolling couse. The terrain covers open fields, wooded areas and brief segments on a gravel road. A course map for Friday's meet can be found here (PDF).
