Biography

Prior to NKU / Personal
  • Attended Kaneland High School in his hometown of Elburn, Illinois
    • A two-time all-area selection, Acevedo drove in the winning run in Kaneland's 3-2 win against Burlington Central in the 2019 Illinois Class 3A Central Regional title game.
    • Helped Kaneland to the 2019 Northern Illinois Big 12 title.
  • Previously attended Bradley University where he was a member of the Baseball program for two years
    • Joined the Braves as one of eight freshmen among the 13 newcomers on the 2020 roster.
    • Appeared in two of Bradley's 10 games during the abbreviated 2020 season and retired the first batter he faced on one pitch.
    • Redshirted the 2021 season, leaving him with four years of eligibility entering the 2022 campaign

  • The son of Juan Acevedo and Sonja Ptach, Angel was born Sept. 9, 2000 in Elgin, IL.
  • The oldest of three children, Angel's siblings are Alijah (18) and Adrian (13).
  • Father, Juan Acevedo, played college baseball at Parkland College before enjoying an eight-year Major League Baseball career as a RHP for eight teams: Colorado (1995, 2001); New York Mets (1997); St. Louis Cardinals (1998-1999); Milwaukee Brewers (2000); Florida Marlins (2001); Detroit Tigers (2002); New York Yankees (2003); and Toronto Blue Jays (2003).
  • Juan Acevedo teamed with former Bradley pitcher Bryan Rekar on the 1995 Rockies.
