Brad Gschwind

Brad Gschwind begins his fourth year with NKU. He spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Xavier. In 2013, the Musketeers posted a 30-29 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Regionals after capturing the Big East Conference tournament title with a 5-0 victory over Creighton. Xavier posted a 6-4 win over Clemson in the national tournament but dropped games to Vanderbilt and Oregon to end its postseason run.

Last summer, Gschwind was named the head coach for the Cincinnati Steam, a member of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. The Steam roster featured three NKU pitchers (Nick Beard, Cody Cooper and Matt Jefferson), and the team posted 21-19 record.

Gschwind has also served as an assistant coach for the Battle Creek Bombers in the Northwoods League after spending time as an undergraduate assistant with Miami (Ohio) in 2012.

Gschwind received his undergraduate degree in physical education in the spring of 2012 from Miami, where he was a four-year letterwinner for the RedHawks in the infield.  During his senior campaign in 2011, he batted .285 with nine doubles and four home runs.  He drove in 38 runs and scored 29 times in 58 games.

NKU finished 14-37 overall and 6-21 in the Atlantic Sun Conference last season.  The 2014 baseball season will begin in February with the Norse eligible to earn a berth to the Atlantic Sun Championship for the first time since beginning the NCAA Division I transition two seasons ago.
