Chip Gregg is entering his ninth season as the softball team's assistant coach at Northern Kentucky University.

Since coming to NKU in 2002, the Norse have compiled a 297-136 overall record. The team has made six appearances in the NCAA National Tournament since Gregg was named assistant coach.

Last season, Gregg helped guide NKU to its second Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship.  NKU was the lowest seed, at No. 6, to ever win the GLVC Tournament

In 2004 and 2005, Gregg helped guide NKU to a Great Lakes Region Tournament championship and the NCAA Division II national finals.

This will be Gregg's 15th year coaching overall. The Holmes High School graduate has a 620-157 career record, including three years as a high school head coach.

Gregg has coached youth softball since 1995 and has compiled a 402-99 record, including two world championships, a world runner-up, five state championships, and seven consecutive World Series appearances - never having finished lower than fifth.

Gregg's primary coaching responsibility at NKU will be hitting, and he will also work with the pitching staff and assist with recruiting.

As a player, Gregg was selected three times as all-world in softball.

Gregg resides in Taylor Mill, Ky., with his wife, Kim, two daughters, Shiela (16) and Audrey (15), and one son, Brody. Gregg's daughter, Britne, is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky.
