Worked his way into a prominent role out of the Buckeye bullpen as a freshman, appearing in many high-leverage situations.

In his first career appearance, Johnson pitched two scoreless innings and struck out two in the dramatic 9-8 comeback victory over Indiana State on February 20.
In 2.1 innings across two appearances at Texas State, Johnson allowed no runs and struck out four batters.
