Stephen returns to the NKU men's soccer program this season as a graduate assistant coach for John Basalyga. He was a midfielder for coach Basalyga for three seasons (2009-2011), notching three career assits. He was also part of the 2010 team that won the Division II National Championship.

Stephen graduated from Turpin High School and was named a high school All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as a senior. He attended Bucknell University, redshirting his first year, then transferring to NKU after his freshman season. He graduated from NKU in spring '12, which a Bachelor's degree in International Studies. He then began his coaching career at his high school alma mater, coaching the freshman team for one season. He came back to NKU in fall '13 to enter the graduate program for Communications and to assist John Basalya on the sidelines.

Born in Boston, Stephen was raised in CIncinnati by his parents and NKU alumni Tom and Diana McGill. His mother, Diana, is currently a chemistry professor at NKU.
