2018 Horizon League All-Academic Team

2018: Started in 12 matches at goalkeeper for the Norse…Finished with an 8-4 record…Faced 145 shots and made 45 saves…Recorded a shutout in the team’s 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Oct. 2…Also had an assist in the team’s wins against Canisius on Aug. 27 and Duquesne on Aug. 31…Named to the 2018 Horizon League All-Academic Team.

2017: Started in 16 matches at goalkeeper for the Norse…Recorded a 0.84 goals against average and made 55 saves on the year…Had a 0.797 save percentage…Finished the season with a 7-5-4 record…Accumulated eight shutouts on the year, which was the most for the program in the Division I era…Recorded a career-high 10 saves against UIC on Oct. 14…Earned Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 18 and Oct. 16…Named the 2017 Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year and to the 2017 First Team All-Horizon League.


Prior to NKU: Transferred from Loyola University Chicago…In 2016, Barkei saw limited action with the Ramblers…Prior to college was a standout performer for the Chicago Magic academy program anchoring the team to a pair of United States Soccer Association Championships in 2010 and 2011…Received the Adidas Golden Glove award in both of the club’s championship runs.
