Northern Kentucky head softball coach Kathryn Gleason announced the hiring of assistant coach Lexie Blair to her staff.

The Winter Garden, Florida native will work primarily with the NKU outfield while also assisting with the offense, recruiting, academics, and all things related to social media and team travel.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Blair to our NKU softball family," Gleason said. "She has a tremendous background with her playing experience at the University at Michigan and we look forward to her sharing her knowledge and experiences with our program. She has jumped into practice and has already made our team better, working with the outfield, the offense and with baserunning. We are excited that she is now a part of our Norse softball family and to see her contributions with the team on and off the field."

Blair joins NKU after completing a standout collegiate career at the University of Michigan (2019-2023). A five-year starter in the Wolverine outfield, Blair was just the fifth player in UM program history to garner four All-Big Ten first team selections (2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023), including two unanimous selections. In 2021 she was also named the Big Ten Player of the Year after batting .406 with 63 hits, 42 runs and 25 RBI.

Blair, who appeared in 219 total games at Michigan, graduated with the Wolverines program record for career doubles (72) and ranks fifth all-time in both career batting average (.370) and stolen bases (55). Blair was a four-time NFCA All-Great Lakes selection and in 2019 was a Top-10 finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year. She is also bringing a championship culture to NKU as she earned two Big Ten Championships with the Wolverines in 2019 and 2021.

She graduated from Michigan with a bachelor's degree in communication and media (2022) and a master's degree in sport management (2023). Blair was also a multi-time All-Big Ten All-Academic honoree.
