PRIOR TO NKU: Gates was a first-team All-Ohio Selection while at Bloom Carroll, earning Central District D3 Player of the Year honors. Gates was the first softball player honored as the central Ohio home plate club high school player of the year, as well as being a first-team all-league selection and a two-time all-district selection.
