PJ Ball

Pamilla (P.J.) Ball

PJ works as an assistant coach with our student-athletes on the women's track and field and cross country teams. P.J. has been an integral part of the team during NKU’s NCAA Division I era. While assisting in the recruitment of women’s distance prospects. she has taken on more responsibilities for the women’s team each year and works in concert with Coach Kruse in developing the weekly training and logistics of team travel. Her one-on-one work with the distance crew is phenomenal as she assists our team in the critical transition from high school to the competitive world of collegiate running.

In college, PJ ran cross country and track & field for the University of Cincinnati. She was a three-time All-Conference runner for the Bearcats and in 2001, she was named Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year. She frequented the 5000-meter, 3000-meter, and 3000-meter steeplechase runs with UC. In 2000, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry and she would return to UC to earn a PhD in Chemistry in 2005.

She put her degrees to good use as she is currently a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Northern Kentucky University. She has been teaching at NKU since 2005. P.J. has hung up her racing shoes though she still trains with the women’s team and leads a very active lifestyle with her husband Tim and son Leo. The former cross country and track athlete won the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati in 2004, respectively.
