What Braden did this week: Bishop netted three goals to help spur the Norse to a pair of key Great Lakes Valley Conference victories. In Friday’s game against Quincy, Bishop scored the game-winning goal on a shot from 25 yards out to send NKU to a 2-0 victory. On Sunday against Rockhurst, Bishop opened the scorebook for the Norse – scoring in the 35th minute with a goal off a Steven Beattie corner kick – and closed it in the 84th minute off another Beattie assist to cap a 4-1 win for the Norse.
Interesting fact about Braden: Bishop was the 2006 GLVC Freshman of the Year, closing out his inaugural campaign with 12 goals and three assists. Bishop now has 42 goals in his career, good for third all-time at NKU behind Beattie (45) and Chad Scott (46).
Up next: Bishop and the Norse head west for their biggest challenge yet when they face unbeaten Drury on Friday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. Last season, Drury gave NKU its first loss of the season, taking a 3-2 decision in overtime. The Norse close out the weekend road trip with a visit to Missouri S&T on Sunday.
