Tony Rack returned home to Northern Kentucky University as the team’s Director of Basketball Operations, joining head coach John Brannen’s staff in April 2015. Rack spent four years from 2008-2012 guiding the Norse backcourt before joining the staff at Winthrop following graduation.
At Winthrop, Rack spent three seasons with the men's basketball program and Eagle’s head coach Pat Kelsey. The final two years in Rock Hill, South Carolina, were spent as the team's director of operations, where Rack helped the Eagles amass 39 wins and reach the Big South Conference championship game both seasons. In his first year at Winthrop in 2012-13, he served as a graduate assistant coach.
The Cincinnati, OH native is a 2012 graduate of Northern Kentucky University where he was a four-year member of the men's basketball team. Rack was known for his accuracy behind the arc at Northern Kentucky as he led the team in three-point percentage for three straight years. As a senior he knocked down 59 threes on the year and finished with a percentage of .461His senior season, Rack was a team captain and was also an Academic All-American Nominee. He was voted to the Capital One Academic All-District IV First Team as well as the National Association Of Basketball Coaches Honors Court.
Rack graduated from NKU as one of the program’s most-prolific shooters, ranking third all-time in 3-point field goal percent (.443) and ninth in three’s made (160).
The 6-0 guard also had an impressive high school career at Moeller High School in Cincinnati. As a junior and senior, Rack led the Greater Catholic League in assists and averaged 4.3 assists as a senior. In 2007, Rack was the starting point guard of the Moeller team that won the Ohio Division I state title. In addition to his basketball skills, Rack was also a member of the varsity football and baseball teams.
Rack is the son of Jim and Susan Rack and has an older brother, Kevin.
