Kristina Eisenmenger finished with 20 kills and attacked at a .474 clip Friday night as Northern Kentucky University defeated Southern Indiana, 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, in the PAC Arena.
Kelsey Wesaw added 18 kills and hit .379 for NKU, which improved to 13-3 overall, 5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse used a 6-0 run late in the first set to wipe out a 19-17 deficit and rally for a 25-22 win. Wesaw converted two kills to key the NKU spurt.
Natalie Forbes dished out 50 assists and collected 10 digs as the Norse defeated Southern Indiana for the fourth consecutive time. NKU now leads the all-time series with Southern Indiana, 33-9. The Norse have not lost to the Screaming Eagles (6-8 overall, 1-5 GLVC) since 2004.
Eisenmenger, a Notre Dame Academy graduate who was named GLVC Player of the Week on Monday, now has 1,457 career kills. She converted the 20 kills Friday in 38 attempts with just two errors.
Forbes, a Highlands High School graduate, added four kills and hit .500 for the match. She also had a solo block.
Noelle Peterson tallied eight kills and served up three aces for NKU, which limited Southern Indiana to a .148 hitting percentage.
Chelsea Clark, who recorded a career-high 41 digs Tuesday night at Wheeling Jesuit, paced the NKU defense with 15 digs against Southern Indiana.
Kim Nemcek added seven kills, six digs and two solo blocks. Brittani Oliver led Southern Indiana with 19 kills and hit .385 for the match.
NKU returns home to play a pair of non-conference matches Saturday against Glenville State (noon) and Urbana (4 p.m.). The Norse resume GLVC play Thursday night when Missouri-St. Louis visits Regents Hall at 7 p.m.
NKU also plays host to Missouri S&T next Friday at 7 p.m., before closing out the homestand with a 3 p.m. match against Quincy on Oct. 4.
