KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team settled for a split of its Great Lakes Valley Conference road trip as the Norse fell to Rockhurst, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Danielle Boyce made the difference for the Hawks (7-1-1, 4-0-1 GLVC) in the 72nd minute, taking a pass from JoJo Palco to the right side and burying a shot from 20 yards out into the top left corner to notch her first goal of the season. The Rockhurst defense held on for the final 18 minutes of the game to seal the victory.
The Norse (6-2, 3-2 GLVC) matched the Hawks with nine total shots and three shots on goal.
Angela Healy made two saves in the loss for NKU, while Alyssa Miller stopped all three NKU shots on goal in the shutout for Rockhurst.
NKU had began the road trip Friday by knocking off defending GLVC champion Drury, 3-1, in Springfield, Mo.
The Norse play a rare mid-week game on Wednesday against regional foe Ashland. The game, originally scheduled for 4 p.m. at the AU Soccer Field, has been moved to a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Ashland Community Soccer Stadium due to construction on the Ashland campus.
