No. 12 NKU women's soccer hosts Maryville for Senior Night on Friday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team will host Senior Night on Friday as Maryville comes to town for a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

NKU enters the game with a record of 13-2 overall, 10-2 in GLVC play. Last weekend, the Norse picked up victories over Drury, 1-0, and Missouri S&T. Currently, the Norse are in first place in the GLVC standings.

The NKU offense is led by goal scorers Kendall Day and Amanda Mason, who have seven and six goals, respectively, on the season.  Danielle Hogue, with five goals and 10 assists, leads the team in points with 20.

The Norse will honor their three senior players – Brandi Doss, Amie Noll and Ashley Warndorf – in a halftime ceremony.

A WORD ABOUT MARYVILLE: One of the two newcomers to the GLVC this season, Maryville has gone 5-9-1 overall and 4-7-1 as the Saints transition from Division III to Division II. Laura Jendusa and Dana Hillis lead the offense with four goals each, while Jena Casagrande has been the Saints' top goalkeeper this season with a .793 save percentage. This will be the first meeting between the Norse and the Saints.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: NKU jumped three spots to No. 12 in the NCAA Division II national poll. It is the highest ranking NKU has received since being tabbed as the No. 7 team in the nation on Sept. 25, 2007.

REGION HOLDS STEADY: The Norse remained No. 2 in the NCAA Midwest Region rankings this week. Grand Valley State remained the region's top team, while Bellarmine, Indianapolis, Quincy and Drury rounded out the top six teams.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: After scoring one game-winner and assisting on another, Amanda Mason was named the GLVC Player of the Week. Mason put home the only goal of the game against Drury and had an assist on Emily Martin's winning goal in the second half against Missouri S&T.
