INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky University's Kim Nemcek has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in volleyball, the league office announced Monday.

Nemcek averaged a double-double (16 kills and 11 digs) last week as NKU swept GLVC road matches against Rockhurst and Drury. The junior middle hitter recorded 15 kills and 16 digs Friday night as NKU pulled out a five-set victory at Rockhurst. She finished that match with a .300 hitting percentage and collected two blocks and two service aces.

The next day, Nemcek collected 17 kills and attacked at a .484 clip as NKU defeated Drury in four sets. She also added six digs as NKU won its sixth consecutive match and remained unbeaten (5-0) in GLVC play.

Nemcek, a native of Geneva, Ill., currently leads the GLVC in kills per set at 3.94. She is also ninth in the GLVC in both hitting percentage (.332) and blocks (0.90.).

NKU is 14-5 overall and has won 10 of its last 11 matches. The Norse play host to Bellarmine at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Regents Hall. NKU has defeated Bellarmine (5-5 overall, 2-3 GLVC) 33 consecutive times going into that match.

Wisconsin-Parkside visits NKU this Friday for a 7 p.m. match. NKU is also holding its Dig Pink promotion as part of breast cancer awareness that evening. Breast cancer survivors have been invited to attend that match, and Dig Pink volleyballs will also be raffled to assist in raising funds for breast cancer awareness.

Three-time defending GLVC Tournament champion Lewis invades Regents Hall at 3 p.m. Saturday for a first-place showdown. NKU is also holding a Black Out promotion that afternoon, and all Norse fans are encouraged to wear black NKU apparel for that match.

Lewis is currently 16-3 overall, 6-0 in the GLVC. NKU knocked off the Flyers in the regular-season finale last season to claim a share of the GLVC East Division title. The Norse later eliminated Lewis in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament at Allendale, Mich.
