WILDER, Ky. – Hannah Wissel and Kendall Day each netted goals early in the first half to spark Northern Kentucky University's 2-1 win against Quincy in a Great Lakes Valley Conference women's soccer showdown Friday night.

Wissel struck at the 20:18 mark by finishing off a cross with a shot that went through Quincy goalie Toni Eye's hands. Danielle Hogue picked up the assist on that goal.

Three minutes later, Day extended NKU's lead to 2-0 by netting her seventh goal of the season off a deflected clearance attempt by Quincy that resulted in an eight-yard shot into the back of the net.

Quincy scored in the 62nd minute, but the NKU defense limited the Lady Hawks to just four shots the entire contest and held on for the win. The Norse improved to 10-2 overall, 7-2 GLVC. Quincy dropped to 9-4 overall, 7-2 in the GLVC.

NKU is ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region poll, while Quincy is No. 3 in that poll.

NKU returns to action Sunday with a home contest against Rockhurst at 2:30 p.m.
