ATHENS, Ohio
– The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team took a learning experience from the field on Monday in a 2-0 loss at the hands of Ohio in exhibition play.

Jasmine Merith cracked the scorebook in the 45th minute, setting up 10 yards out and ripping a shot past NKU goalkeeper Rachael Wood just before halftime.

Katie Kemen put the insurance goal home in the 58th minute with a blast from just outside the 18-yard-box for the 2-0 final.

The Norse struggled to find their offensive rhythm as the Bobcats took a 27-5 shooting edge in the contest.

Stephanie Glass and Cassie Lingenhoel each had three saves on the day.

NKU will close out its preseason schedule on Aug. 27 with the 2009 Alumni Game. Kick-off is set for 8:15 p.m.

The 2009 regular season kicks off on Aug. 30 when Concord comes to Wilder for an 11 a.m. matinee.
