HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team plays its final non-conference game of the season Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest at Ashland.

The Norse picked up a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference victories this past weekend, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan, 4-0, on Friday, before coming home to post a 1-0 victory over Bellarmine.

NKU is now 4-1 overall and 2-1 in GLVC play. NKU will close out the week with a Sunday contest at Indianapolis.

ABOUT THE EAGLES: Ashland enters Wednesday's contest boasting a 3-1-1 record. Last weekend saw the Eagles post a 1-1 tie against Lake Erie and drop a 5-0 decision to Northern Michigan. The Eagles are led offensively by Chelsea Hyatt, who has four goals and one assist on the season.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE EAGLES: Kendall Day struck in the ninth minute to give NKU the early edge in a 3-0 victory at Ashland in 2008. Jessica Page and Lauren Franzen also posted goals while Angela Healy made four saves. The Norse are 6-1-1 all-time against the Eagles and have won the last four meetings between the teams.

NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS: NKU has found success when stepping out of conference in its history. The Norse have won their last 15 non-conference contests, a streak that started on Sept. 2, 2005 in a 7-1 win over Concord.

“MASON” IT WORK:  Amanda Mason posted game-winning goals in each of NKU's victories this past weekend, scoring in the eighth minute of NKU's 4-0 win against Kentucky Wesleyan and putting home a loose ball for NKU's only goal against Bellarmine. The sophomore from Cincinnati Northwest High School now has three goals on the season, all game-winners.

GOOD GOALKEEPING: NKU goalkeepers Rachael Wood and Stephanie Glass have built a solid wall in front of the Norse net this season, posting a combined 0.60 goals against average and posting three shutouts in five contests.
