NKU prepares to open GLVC play this weekend in Regents Hall.
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team begins Great Lakes Valley Conference play Friday night when Kentucky Wesleyan visits Regents Hall at 7 p.m.
NKU concludes the opening weekend of GLVC play Saturday at 3 p.m. by hosting Southern Indiana.
The broadcast of both those matches can be heard live on the Internet at www.nkunorse.com. In addition, fans are asked to park in Lot S (the gravel lot next to the Albright Health Center), as a parking fee of $2 will be charged for each match this season.
NKU enters Friday with an 8-5 overall record after winning three of four matches at the Lock Haven Classic last week. Kentucky Wesleyan is 0-8 overall, while Southern Indiana owns a 6-6 overall record.
KIM A GEM: NKU junior middle hitter
Kim Nemcek leads the team with 194 kills (4.13 kills per set) and is attacking at a .317 clip. Nemcek also tops the Norse with 49 total blocks.
TOUGH SERVE: NKU freshman
Kylee Tarantino served up eight aces against Shippensburg last week. The Mount Notre Dame High School graduate leads NKU with 30 service aces.
NKU/KWC SERIES: NKU owns a 38-0 lead in the all-time series with Kentucky Wesleyan. In fact, NKU has not dropped a set to Kentucky Wesleyan since Oct. 23, 1993.
LONG STREAK: Kentucky Wesleyan enters Friday having lost 113 consecutive GLVC matches. The Panthers' last conference victory came against Bellarmine on Oct. 31, 2001.
