INDIANAPOLIS – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team had a flurry of offense late, but the Norse were unable to find an equalizing goal in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Indianapolis.
Indianapolis, ranked No. 10 in the NCAA Division II national poll, pressured the offense early, outshooting NKU by a 9-5 clip in the first half before getting the opening goal in the 33rd minute off a Shelby Spinelli breakaway.
The Greyhounds expanded the lead in the 51st minute on Morgan Binder's first goal of the season.
Danielle Hogue answered in the 58th minute, cleaning up a shot off the crossbar from
Amanda Mason to net her fourth goal of the season.
Rachael Wood made two saves in net for the Norse, who fell to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in GLVC play.
NKU returns home for a pair of GLVC contests next weekend. The Norse will host Saint Joseph's at 5 p.m. Friday. Defending GLVC champion Wisconsin-Parkside visits the Town & Country Sports Complex next Sunday for a noon kickoff.
