WILDER, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team was firing on all cylinders Friday night in a 6-1 victory over Saint Joseph's in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Kendall Day got the scoring started for the Norse just five minutes into the contest, taking a cross from
Amanda Mason to collect her first goal of the season. Thirty seconds later, Mason responded with a goal of her own off a give-and-go with
Danielle Hogue.
Day touched the twine again in the 12th minute after
Kara Costello popped a ball up inside the penalty area for Day to send home on a header. Costello would score a goal of her own in a scramble inside the 18-yard-box, getting assists from Day and Hogue.
Kathryn Hale and
Hannah Wissel each added goals in the second half to close out the scoring for the Norse.
Crystal Torres notched the only goal for the Pumas, scoring off a long breakaway from her own half of the field.
NKU owned the field of play, taking a 25-3 advantage in shots.
With the win, NKU is now 6-2 on the season and 3-2 in GLVC play. The Norse return to action on Sunday to host Wisconsin-Parkside at Town & Country Sports Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
