SPRINGFIELD, Ill. –
Ethan Faulkner scored a career-high 16 points to lead Northern Kentucky University to a 59-53 win at Illinois-Springfield on Thursday night.

Yan Moukoury each added eight points as NKU improved to 11-9 overall, 4-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse held Illinois-Springfield to just 32.1 percent shooting from the field.
Illinois-Springfield, in its first season of GLVC competition, dropped to 8-9 overall, 5-7 in the GLVC. Thursday's game marked the first meeting between NKU and Illinois-Springfield in men's basketball.
Faulkner, a freshman guard from Sandy Hook, Ky., netted 13 points in the second half as NKU held off the Prairie Stars. He made four free throws in the final 35 seconds to help seal the win and finished 8-for-12 at the charity stripe.
Faulkner also buried a pair of 3-point shots and dished out two assists in 26 minutes of action.
Moukoury scored six points in the first half as NKU took a 24-21 lead at the break. The Norse led by as many as 12 points in the second half.
Chris Knight grabbed a game-high eight rebounds for NKU, which finished 20-for-31 at the free-throw line.
NKU concludes the two-game road trip Saturday by meeting Saint Joseph's at 4 p.m.
