AURORA, Ill. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team began the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover tournament on Friday by posting a 25-21, 25-17, 25-23 victory against Ashland.

Sophomore setter Jenna Schreiver dished out 28 assists and added nine kills for NKU, which improved to 15-8 overall. Schreiver also attacked at a .583 clip and closed out the victory with a kill in the third set.

Shelby Buschur finished with six kills and three service aces for NKU. Buschur also hit .429 as the Norse attacked at a .263 clip for the match. Sarah Drennen collected six kills and 13 digs, while teammate Anna Prickel added 11 digs for the NKU defense.

Gennie Galfano added seven kills for NKU, and Noelle Peterson finished with five kills. Kylee Tarantino collected 10 digs and served up two aces for the Norse, who are now 16-6 all-time against Ashland.

Ashland, the No. 7 seed from the GLIAC, dropped to 11-7 overall. The Eagles hit just .077 as a team.

NKU later dropped a three-set decision to No. 25 Grand Valley State by scores of 25-21, 25-13, 25-20. The Norse hit just .054 against the Lakers. NKU is now 15-9 overall. Grand Valley State is 13-5.

NKU concludes the two-day event Saturday by facing No. 12 Hillsdale, which is the top seed from the GLIAC.
