HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team extended its winning streak to seven by posting a 2-0 victory against Drury on Sunday afternoon.

Claudia Bryant and Amanda Mason both scored goals for NKU, which improved to 12-1-1 overall, 11-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse, ranked 20th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, also clinched a first-round home game in the GLVC Tournament on Oct. 31 with the win.

Bryant gave NKU a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute by stealing an errant Drury pass in the backfield and chipping a shot over the head of Panther goalie Jessie Sanderson into the back of the net. It was the fifth goal of the season for Bryant, a freshman forward from Milford, Ohio.

Mason struck for her 14th goal of the season in the 57th minute to extend NKU's lead to 2-0. Megan Frye assisted on the score with a perfectly placed corner kick into the box, and Mason finished with a shot to give the Norse a two-goal advantage.

NKU goalie Rachael Wood turned back seven Drury shots and collected her 10th shutout of the season. NKU has allowed just three goals the entire season, with two of those coming in a 2-1 loss at Wisconsin-Parkside.

NKU finished with a 20-15 advantage in shot attempts, and the Norse owned an 8-5 edge in corner kicks. Sanderson also had seven saves for Drury, which dropped to 7-7-1 overall, 5-6-1 in the GLVC.

NKU recognized its seven seniors – Morgan Price, Danielle Hogue, Caitlyn Mueller, Maggie Smith, Kara Costello, Megan Smith and Jeanna Goettelman – in pregame festivities. Sunday marked the last regular-season home contest for the Norse, who play at Missouri-St. Louis on Friday.
