HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win against Lewis at the NKU Soccer Stadium on Sunday.
NKU netted three goals in the first 12 minutes of the contest and coasted to the easy Great Lakes Valley Conference win. The Norse improved to 8-1-1 overall, 7-1 in the GLVC.
Lewis is 4-6 overall, 4-5 in the GLVC.
Amanda Mason began the NKU scoring onslaught by blasting a 25-yard shot into the net off an assist from
Danielle Hogue just 1:37 into the game. Three minutes later,
Megan Frye extended NKU's lead to 2-0 by taking a pass from Hogue and chipping in a shot for her fourth goal of the season.
Claudia Bryant made it 3-0 at the 11:12 mark when she finished off a rebound for her third goal of the season. Mason capped the scoring at the 39:21 mark with her ninth goal of the season off an assist from
Olivia Lenzer.
NKU dominated the field and finished with a 17-4 advantage in shot attempts. NKU goalies
Rachael Wood and
Cassie Lingenhoel combined for the shutout, with Lingenhoel collecting two saves.
NKU upped its lead in the all-time series with Lewis to 10-2-1.
NKU hits the road for a GLVC contest at Rockhurst on Friday. The Norse conclude the road trip Sunday with a game at Quincy.
