HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Danielle Hogue scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Drury in the quarterfinal round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Sunday.

With the win, the top-seeded Norse improved to 15-1-1 on the season and advanced to the GLVC semifinals to take on Bellarmine, which defeated Southern Indiana in quarterfinal action. The semifinals and championship game will be hosted by NKU on Nov. 5-7.

Hogue got the scoring started early for the Norse, notching her third goal of the season in the fourth minute of the game. Laura Painter's corner kick sailed to the back post, where Amanda Mason headed the ball to Hogue at the goal mouth for the game-winner.

Hogue's tenacity helped NKU to its second goal as well in the 10th minute. Hogue picked up the ball in her own half from a Drury defender and fed Hannah Wissel with a through pass. Wissel took the ball to the end line and crossed it for Taylor Jennings, who scored her second marker of the season to give the Norse the insurance goal.

The NKU defense had another solid outing as well, holding Drury to 10 shots on the game. Goalkeeper Rachael Wood made two saves to earn her 14th shutout of the season.

Drury ended its season with an 8-9-2 record.

NKU is looking for its second consecutive GLVC championship and eighth overall. The Norse defeated Quincy, 1-0, to win the title in 2009.
