NKU women's soccer posts 2-0 GLVC road victory at Rockhurst on Friday night

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Claudia Bryant and Kelly Sullivan scored goals Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team posted a 2-0 win against Rockhurst.

Rachael Wood recorded the shutout with two saves for NKU, which improved to 9-1-1 overall, 8-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are ranked 23rd nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.

Bryant gave NKU a 1-0 lead at the 7:06 mark by finishing off a pass from Kristi Hofmeyer for her fourth goal of the season. It remained 1-0 until the 83rd minute, when Sullivan found the back of the net with a 10-yard shot off a rebound for an insurance score. Hannah Wissel was credited with the assist on Sullivan's second goal of the season.

NKU, which defeated Rockhurst twice last season, finished with a 16-8 edge in shot attempts. The Norse are now 8-1 all-time against Rockhurst, which dropped to 7-4-1 overall, 5-3-1 in the GLVC.

NKU concludes the road trip Sunday by meeting Quincy in a GLVC showdown. Quincy is 8-1-3 overall, 6-0-3 in the GLVC.

A year ago, NKU defeated Quincy three times, including victories in the GLVC Tournament and NCAA Division II Tournament.
