The NKU women's basketball team fell at Bellarmine, 72-70, on Thursday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Therese Montano and Lauren Jones combined for 41 points Thursday night as Bellarmine built a huge lead and held on for a 72-70 victory against Northern Kentucky University.
Montano finished with 23 points for Bellarmine, which improved to 10-8 overall, 5-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Jones added 18 points for the Knights, who owned a 67-52 lead with 4:11 remaining in the game.
NKU (12-5 overall, 6-3 GLVC) used a 14-2 run to slice the Bellarmine lead to 69-66 on a conventional three-point play by
Casse Mogan with 1:47 left. Mogan later made a pair of free throws with 31 seconds remaining to bring NKU to within a point (71-70).
Chelsea Hawkins was fouled with 12 seconds left and made one of two free throws to extend Bellarmine's advantage to 72-70. Mogan attempted to tie the game in the final seconds, but her jumper was off target.
Mogan scored 21 points to lead NKU, which had beaten Bellarmine five consecutive times. It marked Bellarmine's first win against NKU since Feb. 19, 2008, when the Knights posted a 73-60 win over the Norse in Louisville.
Sadie Bowling added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Norse, who shot 40 percent from the field.
Kelsey Simpson scored 10 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds, while
Jaimie Hamlet finished with 10 points.
NKU will visit Owensboro, Ky., on Saturday to meet Kentucky Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
