AURORA, Ill. - Noelle Peterson slammed down 16 kills and hit .500 as Northern Kentucky University opened the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover event with a four-set victory against Ashland on Friday.

NKU posted a 25-18, 16-25, 25-14, 25-17 victory to improve to 16-2 overall. The Norse hit .318 as a team as Jenna Schreiver dished out 40 assists. Schreiver also served up four aces and added four blocks for NKU, which is ranked No. 13 in the latest NCAA Division II poll.

Kim Nemcek, Gennie Galfano, Sarah Drennen and Shelby Buschur each collected seven kills for the balanced NKU attack. Nemcek, who upped her career kills total to 991, added three blocks and six digs.

NKU held Ashland (9-7) to a .172 hitting percentage. Kylee Tarantino led the Norse defense with 12 digs, while Anna Prickel finished with 11. NKU is now 18-6 all-time against Ashland.

NKU, winners of six straight, will take on No. 11 Ferris State tonight at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern time) in a battle of nationally ranked teams. Ferris State enters that match with 11 consecutive victories.
