HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Bob Sheehan earned his 250th career coaching victory at Northern Kentucky University on Friday night as his Norse women's soccer team posted a 3-2 win against visiting Missouri-St. Louis.

With the score tied at 2-all, Megan Frye netted the winning goal in the 86th minute for NKU. Frye sent a 17-yard grounder into the left post for the go-ahead score at the 85:07 mark. Hannah Wissel recorded the assist on Frye's winning marker.

“That was a terrific goal by Megan,” Sheehan said. “She has great size, is athletic, runs well and strikes the ball exceptionally well. If we can get Megan back playing at 100 percent she is going to help our team.”

Kristi Hofmeyer and Amanda Mason also scored goals for NKU, which is ranked No. 9 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. The Norse extended their winning streak to 11 and improved to 14-1 overall, 12-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Sheehan, who started the program in 1997, is now 250-52-16 in 15 years with NKU. His first victory at NKU came on Sept. 7, 1997, when the Norse posted a 7-1 win against North Central (Ill.) at Naperville, Ill.

“I haven't scored a single goal or stopped a shot, but we have had great players and wonderful young ladies come through the program,” Sheehan said.

NKU clinched a first-round home game in the upcoming GLVC Tournament with the win on Friday, but Missouri-St. Louis made things interesting in the second half by rallying twice to tie the contest.

Kaylee Neutzling of Missouri-St. Louis evened the contest at 2-all at the 76:46 mark with an unassisted goal, setting the stage for Frye's heroics. NKU finished with a 16-11 edge in shots and moved to 19-2 all-time against Missouri-St. Louis (8-7 overall, 7-6 GLVC).

NKU plays host to Maryville at noon Sunday in the regular-season home finale.
