HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team is No. 14 in the latest AVCA Division II national poll, which was released Monday.
NKU fell two places in the poll after dropping a five-set decision to No. 20 Lewis last Friday night. The Norse are 20-3 overall after defeating Wisconsin-Parkside in three sets on Saturday.
Tampa (23-0) jumped to No. 1 in this week's poll after Concordia-St. Paul suffered its first loss of the season. Lewis remained No. 20 in the poll, while Indianapolis is No. 23.
NKU plays a road match at Bellarmine (11-9 overall) at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Norse then travel to Indianapolis on Friday for a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown against the 23rd-ranked Greyhounds.
NKU is 10-3 in the GLVC and tied with Lewis for third place in the East Division. Indianapolis is tied for first place with Southern Indiana with 11-2 records in the GLVC.
It has been seven years since NKU last won a match at Indianapolis. The Norse's last road victory over the Greyhounds came on Oct. 29, 2004, when NKU pulled out a five-set decision in the Ruth Lilly Center.
Since then, NKU is 0-5 against Indianapolis on the road. The Norse did not play at Indianapolis last season, but NKU dropped matches in the Ruth Lilly Center in 2005, '06, '07, '08 and '09.
