HONOLULU – 
Casse Mogan and 
Maria Bennett combined for 34 points Friday night as Northern Kentucky University wrapped up play in the Oahu Classic with a 66-44 victory over BYU-Hawaii.
Mogan (pictured left) finished with 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field, and she added three rebounds. Bennett scored 16 points and knocked down four shots from 3-point range as NKU improved to 3-1.
Leading 26-23 with 17:27 left in the game, NKU used a 12-0 run to build a commanding 38-23 advantage. Mogan scored seven points to key the spurt, and freshman forward 
Melody Doss capped it by sinking a jumper with 13:53 remaining.
After BYU-Hawaii (0-2) stopped the NKU run with a basket, the Norse responded with a 22-3 spurt to extend the lead to 60-28. Bennett buried a pair of 3-pointers during the Norse run.
NKU shot 51.7 percent from the field in the second half and finished at 41.4 percent for the game. Doss added eight points for the Norse, while 
Ellen Holton netted six points.
Sadie Bowling grabbed six rebounds for NKU, which finished with a 42-29 advantage on the boards. 
Tiara Hopper collected three steals for the Norse, while teammate 
Kayla Thacker blocked two shots.
NKU held BYU-Hawaii to 30.2 percent shooting from the field. It marked the first game between the two schools in women's basketball.
NKU begins Great Lakes Valley Conference play Dec. 1 with a road game at Saint Joseph's. The Norse conclude the road trip Dec. 3 with a contest at Indianapolis in Nicoson Hall.
