HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's basketball team finishes the regular season this week with road games at Indianapolis (Thursday at 5:30 p.m.) and Southern Indiana (Saturday at 2 p.m.).
NKU is 15-9 overall, 9-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse have clinched a spot in the upcoming GLVC Tournament and could still host a first-round game Feb. 26, depending on the outcomes of this week's contests.
Indianapolis is 14-11 overall, 9-8 in the GLVC. Southern Indiana is 15-9 overall, 11-5 in the GLVC.
THE SERIES: NKU is 41-16 all-time against Indianapolis. The Norse defeated the Greyhounds earlier this season, 57-45, in The Bank of Kentucky Center.
NKU owns a 35-19 lead in the all-time series against Southern Indiana. In their first meeting this season, the Norse posted a 71-38 victory against the Lady Eagles in The Bank of Kentucky Center.
ROAD WOES: NKU is 2-7 on the road this season and has lost five straight games away from home. The Norse are 1-6 on the road against GLVC opponents.
MOGAN'S MILESTONE: NKU junior guard
Casse Mogan became just the 27th player in NKU women's basketball history to reach the 1,000-point club when she knocked down a 10-foot jumper in the second half against Bellarmine on Saturday night. Mogan finished with 23 points and a career-high eight assists as NKU coasted to a 66-43 victory against the Knights.
Mogan, from Circleville, Ohio, now has 1,008 career points and is 26th on the NKU all-time scoring list. She passed Jessie Slack, who netted 1,006 points in two seasons with the Norse. Mogan also finished with five rebounds and four steals on Saturday night.
Mogan averages 17.7 points per game and leads NKU with 67 assists. She has scored in double figures the last 12 games and 22 of 24 this season.
SUFFOCATING DEFENSE: NKU held Bellarmine to just one field goal in the second half and rallied from a 31-28 deficit at the break. The Knights were 1-for-19 (5.3 percent) from the field in the second half. Lauren Jones made the Knights' only second-half field goal, a layup with 3:08 remaining.
BIG-TIME SPURT: NKU opened the second half with a 27-4 run against Bellarmine. The Norse scored the first 12 points of the second half to gain a 40-31 advantage and were never threatened. NKU held Bellarmine to 27.3 percent shooting from the field for the game.
NO. 1 IN THE GLVC: NKU leads the GLVC in scoring defense at 53.1 ppg. The Norse are also No. 1 in field-goal percentage defense, holding the opposition to just 35.3 percent from the field.
THE LAST TIME AGAINST INDIANAPOLIS: Earlier this season on Dec. 4,
Casse Mogan scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead NKU to a 57-45 win over then-No. 11 Indianapolis. The junior guard also added five steals, three assists and two blocked shots.
Ellen Holton scored 12 points for the Norse, who held Indianapolis to 35.4 percent shooting from the field. The Greyhounds, who defeated NKU twice last season, owned a 27-26 halftime lead but were just 6-for-25 (24 percent) from the field in the second half.
Kendra Caldwell added eight points and four rebounds for NKU, which shot a blistering 62.5 percent from the field in the second half. The Norse began the second half with a 15-3 run to take a 41-30 lead and held off a late Indianapolis rally to secure the upset. Mogan keyed the spurt with seven points, and Holton scored six during the run.

Casse Mogan cored 21 points to lead four players in double figures as NKU opened GLVC play by knocking off Southern Indiana, 71-38.
Sadie Bowling added 12 points for the Norse.

Kendra Caldwell grabbed 12 rebounds for NKU.
